Power Outages Cedar Ridge Estates

Power Outages in Our Community

A Divided Grid

Cedar Ridge Estates is powered by Puget Sound Electric (PSE) and operates on more than one grid. While you may have power, some of your neighbors may not. Some homes along Blue Jay Place and Egret Place are on a separate grid  from Estate Drive and Falcon Court.

Updated restoration times are posted at pse.com/outagemap and on the myPSE app as they are available.

Safety first

  • Never touch downed power lines because they might be energized. Stay at least 35 feet away from any downed line and call PSE at 1-888-225-5773 or 911 to report problems.
  • Do not use charcoal or a gas grill to cook indoors.
Never use a natural gas range for heating, or charcoal as an indoor heating source.
This can cause a buildup of poisonous carbon monoxide gas.
  • If you choose to use a portable home generator, read the manufacturer’s instructions for the safe operation of the generator.
Do not operate generators indoors or in enclosed spaces to avoid the buildup of carbon monoxide.
  • If you’re using portable heaters, keep them away from furniture, draperies and other flammable materials
  • Always use flashlights instead of candles.

If you are without power, remember:

  • Never use a natural gas range for heating, or charcoal as an indoor heating or cooking source.
  • If you’re using portable heaters, keep them away from furniture, draperies and other flammable materials.
  • Always use flashlights instead of candles.

Be Prepared for a Power Outage

It's important to be prepared for power outages and to anticipate when they might occur. High winds, downed trees, heavy snow and accidents are all reasons the power could go out.

Four Ways to Prepare for an Outage

  1. Have an outage kit ready. Make a kit with enough water, nonperishable food, flashlights, and blankets for at least 7 days to be safe. A list of items to include in your Outage Kit.
  2. Make a plan.
    • Know what you will do to keep you and your family warm/cool.
    • Know where you can go that might have power nearby.
    • Plan for where you will meet your loved ones if not together and what you will do for meals.
    • Identify a contact that lives out of the area who can act as a point of contact.
    • Talk to your medical provider and develop a plan for medical devices or refrigerated medications in case of an outage.
    • Alert your alarm company prior to the outage. Contact your veterinarian if your pets require special care.
    • Know how to override your electric garage door and how to exit an electrically secured building.
  3. Think about back up power.
    • If you have a generator, understand how to operate it safely.
    • Keep batteries and alternative power sources nearby.
    • Install carbon monoxide detectors in your home and have battery backups for each.
    • Keep cell phones charged and gas tanks full.
    • If you have a landline phone, make sure you have enough battery backup to sustain an outage.
  4. Carry cash. Make sure you always have cash on hand, as ATMs or credit card machines may not work in an outage. Having cash will ensure you can purchase something in a pinch.
