Hello, Cedar Ridge Estates community members! We wanted to take a moment to help you navigate the waste pickup services in our neighborhood, provided by Waste Management Northwest (WMNW). This comprehensive guide draws details from the WMNW's site, which you can visit here.
Understanding Your Collection Schedule
One of the unique things about WMNW's services is that they are remarkably consistent. They service our area every week. Typically, waste pickup in Cedar Ridge Estates occurs on Wednesday mornings around 8:00 AM. Recycling pickup occurs every other week. You can find out your personalized collection day by entering your address on the WMNW site.
Garbage Disposal 101
For most households, the 35-gallon garbage cart provided by WMNW will suffice. However, if you have a larger household or simply need more space, 64-gallon and 96-gallon carts are available as well. Just remember, it's crucial to fit all of your waste inside the cart—overflowing waste or items placed beside the cart won't be collected, and the lid should be closed.
Recycling: Doing Your Bit for the Planet
Included in your garbage service is the ability to recycle. WMNW provides a blue cart specifically for mixed recyclables like paper, cardboard, cans, and plastic containers. However, you need to separate out glass items, which go in a separate smaller bin.
Keeping Your Yard Debris-Free
WMNW also has provisions for yard waste collection. This service is perfect for getting rid of grass clippings, leaves, branches, and other plant materials. Simply put these into the designated yard waste cart.
Handling Special Waste
For the disposal of larger items, electronic waste, hazardous waste, or other special items, don't try to fit them in your regular garbage or recycling bin. Instead, reach out to WMNW to arrange a special pickup. Keep in mind, additional fees may apply for this service.
Navigating Holiday Collections
WMNW observes six holidays each year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If your regular collection day falls on or after one of these holidays, expect a one-day delay. For instance, if the holiday is on a Monday and your usual collection day is Tuesday, your waste will be collected on Wednesday that week.
Make sure to place your carts curbside by 6:30 am on your collection day. The carts should be at least 3 feet apart from each other and a minimum of 5 feet away from cars and mailboxes.
By understanding these waste collection guidelines, you can help keep Cedar Ridge Estates a clean and eco-friendly neighborhood. Have any questions? Feel free to drop a comment or reach out!
Stay Green, Cedar Ridge!
